The Saxon Heritage


I. Sibiu – Biertan – Sighi?oara – Saschiz - Sibiu
Our tour suggests a trip in the area of the former Saxon villages. We’ll discover the Biertan fortress – one of the best fortified churches in Transylvania (a UNESCO Heritage Monument) and we’ll learn why Prince Charles of Great Britain fell in love with these areas, including the beautiful village of Saschiz. In Sighi?oara we’ll learn more about the story of the famous Prince Dracula and we’ll visit the house where it is said he was born.

II. Sibiu – Bran – Râ?nov – Bra?ov
Bra?ov is one of the most beautiful cities in Transylvania. Its historic center, so well preserved along the centuries, at the bottom of the Tâmpa peak, invites us to discover places, people, objectives and funny legends. Bran needs no presentation – the legend of the famous Dracula is linked to the medieval castle hidden in the mountains. At Râ?nov we’ll discover a wonderful fortress built on a mountain, national patrimony, and a real “pearl of Transylvania”.
*As an alternative to Rasnov we also suggest the beautiful Fagaras Fortress.

Sibiu – Câlnic – Alba Iulia - Sibiu
At Câlnic we’ll discover a beautiful Saxon fortified church and, at Alba Iulia, we’ll make a sort of a trip in the past: Alba Iulia used to be a former Dacian-roman fortress, a Saxon colony, an Austro-Hungarian citadel and a symbol of the great unification in 1918. It will be a great and relaxing day full of stories and legends!

Sibiu – the essence of Transylvania!

I. Sibiu – Cristian – Sibiel –Cisn?dioara –Cisn?die - Sibiu

This tour is perfect for all those who do not have time enough to visit the whole county of Sibiu but are interested in culture, history and our daily life. In Cristian we’ll visit a beautiful fortified church (where, in the Bacon Tower, we’ll taste some delicious snacks) and we’ll learn more about the “town of storks”. In Sibiel we’ll visit the Icon Glass Museum and we’ll learn more about this craft. In Cisn?dioara we’ll climb up on the Michelsberg hill to visit the old fortress and have a great view of the surroundings. In Cisn?die we’ll visit an Evangelical Church and the first tower with a lightning rod in Transylvania.

II. The Transf?g?r??an Road
Sibiu – Câr?a
(the Cistercian Monastery) – the Transf?g?r??an Road – the Bâlea Fall – the Bâlea Lake (short trekking tour)
The tour combines the experience of exploring one of the first Cistercian Abbeys in Transylvania (at Câr?a) and the breathtaking view of the famous Transf?g?r??an road, a road built during the Communism times, at the highest altitude in Romania, in the heart of the Fagaras Mounatins (at more than 2000 m altitude) – the road that astonished even the Top Gear staff.

III. Life in the countryside
This package includes a visit to a traditional sheepfold in the mountains close to Sibiu – here we’ll learn more about life in the mountains, the so-called process of “transhumanta” the shepherds still practice here, and we’ll have a delicious traditional lunch with cheese, polenta, lamb and different local snacks. Later, we invite you to explore the traditional Romanian villagesand visit some traditional artisans and craftsmen. The experience will be unique!
This tour is also recommended to families with children!

A perfect visit for families with children – we will visit a farm with all kind of animals, have fun trying to ride a stubborn donkey and enjoy some adventurous activities. We shall also visit a stork shelter, learn about the storks and how they travel; we’ll visit the fortified church in Cristian and taste some delicious snacks in the Bacon Tower. At the end of the day we’ll learn the craft of icon painting or have a ride on bikes.

V. Sibiu – The Corvin Castle – Alba Iulia – Sibiu
The tour includes a visit at one of the most beautiful and mysterious castles in Romania – the Corvin Castle – where we’ll learn more about the story of Dracula and other interesting characters. On our way back, we’ll have a tour in Alba Iulia, a wonderful fortress recently. restored, built in Vauban style.

VI. Wine
Sibiu –Media? – Cetatea de Balt? – Jidvei – Sibiu
For the wine lovers we suggest an incredible experience. Hundreds of years ago the area of the Târnave Valley (North Sibiu) was famous for its vineyards crop. The wine here used to be a sort of a „currency” for the Saxons and all the villages around were famous for their different sorts of wine. Even though, time has changed things, we suggest you to discover and enjoy the savour of our local wines. On our way we’ll also visit Media?, famous trade center in the area.

But, the attraction of the day is, of course, the vineyard from Jidvei, an important wine center of Romania. After discovering the wine art: the crop, the unfermented wine, the process of fermentation, the maturity and the bottle process we’ll enjoy the great array of wine tastes in a special atmosphere at the Cetatea de Balt? Castle.We’ll explore some fascinating grape varieties: Feteasc? Regal?, Feteasc? Alb?, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Ottonel, Riesling Italian, Piont Gris, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay. Together with some cheese specialties, this will make your day an unforgettable one!

Transylvania Taste & Tour

about 8h - the area around Sibiu


We’ll start the day with some delicious appetizers/ starters in a traditional Romanian village, close to Sibiu. We’ll visit a local household, learn about the daily life in the countryside and enjoy some amazing cheese and meat dishes joined, of course, by the famous “tuica” (plum brandy) and local wine.

We’ll continue our tour with a visit at the Saxon fortress in Cisnadioara and the fortified church in Cisnadie – it’s time to discover another community – the Saxons.

After the visit we’ll head towards the mountains, to a sheepfold. A great experience you’ll never forget. We’ll taste some traditional shepherd dishes in the open air…

It’s time to burn some calories, right? We suggest you a short walking tour in one of the villages around – considered one of the best preserved villages in Transylvania. Afterwards, we’ll end the tour with…a delicious Saxon dessert right in a former fortress. The experience is amazing!
