ON the steps of Dracula - 8 nights / 9 days


We have all heard of the famous Dracula, but who was he? We suggest you a visit in the heart of Transylvania in order to discover together the birthplace of the famous prince and learn more about his mysterious life. Was he a brave prince or a frightening tyrant? Truth or legend in Dracula’s country.

Day 1 - Welcome in Romania, welcome in Dracula’s land!
Arrival in Bucharest
Transfer to the hotel
Tour of the city/ visit of the Dracula’s former fortress residency in Lipscani
Welcome dinner (Carul cu Bere, Lipscani)


Day 2 – Dracula’s birthplace and homeland
Bucharest – Sinaia (Peles Castle) – Prejmer – Sighisoara
Today we’ll visit the most wonderful and well preserved castle in Romania – the Peles Castle, home of the great Romanian kings until the end of the World War II.
Lunch – traditional Romanian restaurant “Cutitu d’Argint”
We’ll get into Transylvania and visit Prejmer, one on the best fortified churches, a UNESCO monument, where we’ll learn about Transylvania’s situation at Dracula’s birth. In the afternoon we’ll get to Sighisoara.
Accommodation – Hotel Casa Wagner***
A walking tour, at sun dawn,  in the fortress of Sighisoara; the birth of Prince Vlad, his childhood and teenage years, his exile years, the old cemetery, the former fortified walls, legends about the torture room.
Dinner at the restaurant Casa Dracul (arranged in the house where Dracula was born)

Day 3
– Mythical Transylvania
Sighisoara – Malancrav – Biertan – Richis - Medias.
Visit in Biertan, one of the most important strategic fortresses in Transylvania; the “marriage room”, the best fortified door in Transylvania, the “Wine Road”; after Biertan we’ll visit Richis – another fortified church that hides a secret – the secret of the “Green Man” and, afterwards, Malancrav – a traditional Saxon village where we’ll visit the Hungarian castleAppafi.
Lunch at the Unglerus restaurant in Biertan (within the fortress walls).
The evening is a special one: an esoteric tour in the city of Medias “The Light Citadel”the Dragon Order, the story of the name “Dracula” – Dracula’s adventures in Medias.
Accommodation – Hotel Traube*** in Medias.
Dinner – Restaurant Traube

Day 4:
Medias – Sibiu – Carta – Balea Lake
Visit in Sibiu: guided tour in the historic center; Dracula attacks Sibiu; Dracula’s son arrives in Sibiu but his stabbed to death…more in Sibiu.
Lunch at the restaurant Hermania – traditional Saxon restaurant
Departure to Carta – one of the best preserved Cistercian monasteries in Romania – the story of the monks
The Transfagarasan Road – link between Transylvania and Wallachia (2200 m altitide).  
Accommodation at Paltinu Guest House*** (chalet of the former Communist leader – Ceausescu - )
Dinner at Paltinu Guest House.

Day 5:
Balea Lake – Poienari Fortress – Curtea de Arges - Brasov
Balea Lake – The Poienari Fortress (we’ll climb more than 1400 steps on a mountain to visit Dracula’s fortress, the legend of the noblemen who died trying to built it – Dracula Prince of Wallachia) .
Arrival in Curtea de Arges – lunch at Crama Basarabilor – traditional local restaurant
Visit at the Curtea de Arges Monastery – one of the most in important Romanian monasteries
Departure to Brasov/ Accommodation Casa Wagner***/ Deutsches Haus***
Dinner at Sergiana Restaurant

Day 6
Brasov – Bran – Rasnov - Brasov
Visit in the historic center of Brasov – Dracula’s conflict with the Saxon craftsmen, Brasov on fire, the Black Church
Lunch in Bran at the restaurant Taverna Lupilor
Visit at the Bran castle - Dracula myth or reality? Vlad the Impaler imprisoned in the tower of the castle
Visit of Rasnov – “The Rose Fortress”
Dinner in Poiana Brasov – “House of Dracula” Restaurant
Accommodation Casa Wagner***/ Deutsches Haus***

Day 7
Brasov – Busteni – Targoviste - Bucuresti
Departure Brasov – Busteni (visit at the wonderful Cantacuzino Castle)
Lunch in Busteni – Catacusine Restaurant
Arrival in Targoviste – the former capital of Wallachia – Dracula’s arrival in Tragoviste; the attacks of his enemies
Departure to Bucharest/ Accommodation
Dinner at Restaurant “Divan” – traditional Turkish Restaurant

Day 8

Visit at the Snagov Monastery – Dracula’s death – his tomb; Dracula’s heritage
Free time
Dinner at Curtea Berarilor/ Lacrimi si Sfinti (old town Bucharest)

Day 9
Departure from Bucharest
